Working with watercolor, Brumfield-Woods’ small works on paper expand on the geometric abstractions of her hard-edge works, but with an inherent supple edge. The medium offers chance and fluid mark-making, which she layers with more rigid shapes and introduces gold leaf and ink. The series explores light, shadow, and the interplay of color and lines laid side-by-side.
