Summer of 2023, Woods moved into what she affectionately refers to as “The Murder Building”, where Woods, craving painting—the texture, the mark of the brush, the hand of the artist—did an abrupt about-face and stopped using glitter (except for a sprinkle here or there) and because, like the house drink at the dearly departed Liquid Kitty—a martini and a cigarette, the two went hand-in-hand, she also stopped working in geometric abstraction (except for two). Working almost exclusively in oil, Woods painted anything and everything she wanted to for two years, until she moved studios again in the summer of ‘25. During the packing up of her studio in “The Murder Building”, she cut most of the canvases she’d done during those two years from the stretcher bars, shredded them and threw them in the trash bin. The ones that she chose to hold on to make up this body of work known as “Things That Made The Cut”.
